稳定币真的稳定吗？

与法币和资产锚定的稳定币从2014年Tether发行USDT开始稳步发展。纽约金融服务部也于9月10日批准了GUSD和PAX，意味着稳定币进一步得到了传统监管机构的认可。然而稳定币的价格是否真的稳定？稳定币在去中心化的前提下维持价格稳定的核心在哪里？我们请来了TrustToken的co-founder Tory Reiss，通过近距离观察TrustToken的发展，以其发行的稳定币TrueUSD作为案例，来简要阐述如上问题。

第三方是资产上链的核心

资产上链的困难主要集中于管理上的实行，而引入第三方机构则是解决问题的关键。第三方信托公司，第三方会计公司，都有助于监督和管理项目的运作。TrustToken和包括Circle, Paxo在内的稳定币都采用了如上机制，引入多个第三方机构，在拒绝中心化的前提下解决资产上链带来的问题。

流动性和透明性的重要性

众所周知，由于USDT不公开审计，中心化严重，涉嫌超额发行，而饱受诟病，而稳定币的价格也有波动。Tory在采访中提及了其昂贵的流动性，以及TrustToken在流动性和透明性上做出的改进。

审计与货币监管

纽约金融服务部批准了稳定币GUSD和PAX。而Tory也提及了TrustToken新上任的Chief Regulatory Officer, Alex C. Levine. Levine曾经在U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission 和U.S. Securities & Exchange作为高级法务人员就职，并负责TrustToken 和美国及国际监管部门在政策制定上的合作。区块链技术的特点之一是去中心化，而资产上链对第三方机构以及智能合约完善性的高度依赖使传统监管机构反而成为重要一环。

Tory Reiss, the co-founder, and the head of partnerships & corporate development in TrustToken, spoke with BlockTrain about the market of stablecoin and TrustToken's corporate strategies. The behind-scene stories reveal that the model structure, regulation, and liquidity are critical in the space of stablecoin.

On the firm's corporate strategies

Tory told BlockTrain that TrustToken's main competitive advantage was the exchange-free nature of the platform, which ensures that there's no conflict of interest with the traders. Every other USD stablecoin is controlled by a centralized exchange (Gemini, ItBit, Circle, etc), TrustToken works with all exchanges without strategically favoring any one, making its interest perfectly aligned with its traders and customers.

He also mentions that TrustToken's Chief Regulatory Officer and Head of Legal Affairs, Alex C. Levine, who held senior legal positions at the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission and the U.S. Securities & Exchange Commission, helped the company in developing cooperative relationship with regulators in the US and abroad. TrustToken is taking a proactive strategy to partnering with regulators in designing better policies around stablecoins and security coin space to best benefit its customers.

On liquidity and inflation

Tether is currently suffering from a problem with liquidity. In response to Tether's problem, Tory assures smooth channels for purchasing and redeeming TrueUSD, the company's flagship stablecoin.

On the model that makes stablecoin stable

Tory recall that they decided to enter the market of stablecoin when Tether grew astronomically and they wanted to build a more reliable and safer alternative which is customer-focused. With this in mind, TrustToken created a model for stablecoin involving a third-party trust company, a third-party regulator, and a third-party accounting firm, and the pioneering design now has been used by many of its competitors including Circle and Paxos.

Speaking of the massive opportunities in the stablecoin market and a growing number of competitors entering the market, Tory mentions that TrustToken is financially prepared as they raised over 30 million USD from Andreessen Horowitz, BlockTower Capital, Danhua Capital, etc, and they view competition as the motivation to improve their product -- Having the largest market cap, and having received positive feedbacks from traders and investors, TrustToken has faith in building the most reliable, the safest, the most liquid, and transparent stablecoin.
