我也遇到过类似的问题。要复制-我下载了一个icon from iconmostr并将其包含在我的sprites文件夹中。我得到了同样的错误。在重新启动后，等等，同样的错误。
修复的问题是在PhotoshopCS5.5 CS5.5中打开图标，并将图标重新保存为.png，并将交错设置为“No”。
图像meta显示该软件是"Adobe ImageReady“，并且没有保存配置文件名称(重新导出时为sRGB IEC61966-2.1 )、DPI (重新导出时为72)或类型(重新导出时为PNGf)。

我也遇到过这个问题。它是由图像中的异常数据引起的。
optipng the_pic报告了错误(Extraneous data found after IEND)
optipng -fix the_pic解决了这个问题，指南针愉快地进行了编译。
附注:我没有PhotoShop，错误图片来自我的设计师的PhotoShop (5.0我猜)...Seems在导出的时候出了点问题。

我来搞定。对我来说，这个问题是由于Gemfile没有包含Compass gem而引起的。所以我只加了一句：
gem 'compass'问题消失了。对于认识到这就是问题所在，错误消息是非常无用的。
